Summer Boys Haircut Equals Answer to Pesky Cowlick

Don't be afraid this is not a burr haircut. The clippers are used on the sides, back, and even the crown just short enough so the hair can not stick up. What makes this boys hair cut different from a burr is that clippers are not used on top. Scissors are used to blend the top in.
This short hairstyle can be worn combed straight down for a maintenance free summer haircut, worn spiky all over or with spiky bangs.
Your Cookie Cutters, Haircuts for Kids stylist can help you determine if this is the right haircut for your son and even show you pictures of kids hairstyles that will help you have an idea of what the hairstyle will look like.

Where should I go to have my childs first haircut?
Here at Cookie Cutters, Haircuts for Kids we specialize in making children's haircuts fun! We have indoor playground equipment for them to play on, as well as fun cars and television for during the haircut. We strive to make each child feel comfortable before starting the haircut, so that they have an enjoyable experience. We have bubbles, books, and other toy items that the children can play with during the cut to help them feel at ease. I will be honest, not all children like haircuts, but if they feel comfortable with where they are, it does make a huge difference with getting them over their fear. Sometimes taking them to an "adult" salon makes them feel intimidated because everything is a "no-no". Here they are free to be a kid! They can stomp up the slide, laugh and play, and just be themselves. In the case that they don't care for their haircut, they can cry and it will be ok! Other parents and staff are used to this as most of us have had a similiar situation!

Boys haircut with lots of options

Bring your son in today and one of our professional stylists will help you decide what cool boys hair cut will work best for your child.
How to discribe your little boys haircut
One of the most popular boy haircuts today is the fade. The "fade" is really just a catchall phrase for a short boys haircut done with clippers. A "fade" can be clippers used all over the head or just on the sides and back, with scissors used on the top to blend. What you really need is to know when asking for a "fade" is how short you want to go and if you want to be able style the top. I have listed below the clipper guard lengths available to use and how long they will leave the hair after the cut.
- No Clipper Guard - This is a bald fade, no clipper guard is used and the hair is cut down to the scalp.
- #1 guard - Leaves the hair 1/8" long or stubble. With this length children with light colored hair tend to look bald.
- #2 guard - Leaves the hair 1/4" long.
- #3 guard - Leaves the hair 3/8" long and starts to look a little shaved.
- #4 guard - This is shorter version of little boy haircut.
We hope this helps you the next time you are trying to explain the haircut you are wanting your son to have. Also, remember that we do have pictures of kids hairstyles available for you to look at in every salon.

Baby's First Haircut Part 2
Thanks for checking back for Part 2.
If your child does not like to have their hair combed or washed, more than likely they will not like getting haircuts at first. Here are a few suggestions when planning you Baby's First Haircut:
- When going to get your child's haircut for the first time, one thing to consider is the time of day your child is in the best mood. Getting a haircut at lunch time or nap time is not typically the best time of day, as young children tend to be a little cranky and not want to be touched.
- Avoid planning your visit to the salon right after a doctors or dentist appointment. It is not usually a good time unless your child likes the doctor.
- If they like to eat a certain snack, by all means it with you for them to eat during the haircut.
- Bring their favorite toy or we do have bubbles at some of our salons. These can be used to help distract and entertain the child.
- If there is a certain show on TV they love to watch, try to come when that show is on.
- Bring an extra set of clothes. Some children do not like to wear the cape because it feel confining and if they refuse we don't make them wear it. The only drawback is your child will have hair on their clothes and will be itchy. By bringing a change of clothes you can avoid an unhappy child for the car ride home.
- If you have a long drive and your child falls asleep on drives, give them some time to wake up before having someone they don't know interacts with them.
We have designed a cool kid's salon complete with playground and fantasy chairs to help ease your child's fears. We hope that when you visit us you will Discover How Much Fun A Haircut Can Be!
help for children who don't like their hair cut
Let me tell you a little about myself so you will believe I know what I am talking about.
I have been a stylist for 25 years. I have worked at Cookie Cutters for the past 11 years. I have done a lot of kids cuts.
We are very good at doing kids who don't like haircuts, we even bring a lot of them around to liking haircuts.
Here are a few things to try to make it a better experience for the child and parent.
First if you know why your child doesn't like haircuts make sure and tell the stylist upfront.
For those of you who don't know we can help you figure it out most of the time.
One of the biggest reasons kids don't like haircuts seems to be the cape.If that is so for your child bring some extra clothes.
another big reason they just don't want anyone they don't know to touch them. This seems to be especially true for those children who have had a lot of ear infections.
Some children think it will hurt. They hear the word cut and they know cuts hurt, try using the word trim.
Also some children just don't like to sit still and being put in anything and told not to move is very hard for them. for those children we have bubbles which we usually ask the parent to blow for them or we will even hand them to the child. the ones we have are none spill and non toxic.
If your child has a favorite food or toy bring it.
for the older child bribes work well. Going down the slide after the cut is a good one. We also have balloons we give after the cut, sometimes even during the cut.
Sometime even after trying everything we can think of and your child still cries and fights you will have to hold them.
The most important thing to do in this case is holding the hands so they can't get them up and grab the scissors.
Children get very strong when they don't want to have their hair cut and you might need to bring a second person to help you hold them.
Don't worry, you won't hurt them, just stay calm and ask the stylist where they need you. We are used to this and can tell you how to hold them.Sometimes just holding them like you are hugging them with one side of their head against you is best, we just do one side at a time.
Now on to clipper cuts. It is the sound and not knowing what is being used I usually let the child see and feel the clippers before I use them that does help. Same thing for holding them on clipper cuts.
Some parents hold the child on their lap and that works well. If they move a lot having them in a seat with a belt works better because they are easier to hold.
Just stay calm and don't be embarrassed. It will make a good story to tell when they are older.
We do this every day. This is why there is a place that specializes in children's cuts.
A few other things to consider when getting your child's haircut is the time of day. when is your child in their best mood?
Try to avoid getting a cut when your child is hungry, sick or very tired.
If your child responds better to a certain stylist ask for that stylist the next time.
We are there because this is what we like to do.we will help in any way we can to make your child's haircut a good experience be cause hair cuts are supposed to be fun.

Short, Tapered Bob

The Angled Bob is a twist on the classic bob and has recently taken over Hollywood. This style is cut to chin length around the back with longer, layered pieces up front. This look is good for people with full faces, as it thins out your features. This cut also works best on people with straight hair. To style, simply add a little styling product and blow dry straight. You can use a straight iron if neccesary, or add a few barrettes for a special look!
Stay tuned for more cute hairstyles for both long and short hair!
Smile
Fun. That is the key word for our Cookie Cutters, Haircuts for Kids salons. Most haircuts for children and corresponding hairstyles are pretty quick. We want your child to discover how much fun a haircut can be, and for you to discover that we really do strive to make this a fun experience. Even when the tears come, and they still do for some, nearly all children still leave with a smile on their face.
